Okay, so maybe I can manage to post once a month or something this year. LOL! It's hard to believe that January is over already. Here in Georgia we've had absolutely no bad weather to speak of this winter. We've had some wind and rain, a few cold days but that's it. The entire rest of the nation has had at least snow flurries, including southern California! Not here in Georgia. However, they are predicting the possibility for early this week so we will wait and see what happens. Generally when they predict something big like this, it bypasses us. If they said - a few flurries but nothing to be concerned about - THEN it's time to stock up and be concerned. LOL!
Well, I completed a crochet-along project with a group of friends - some online and some local to me. It was a lot of fun and I think my dishtowel looks pretty nice. I'll try to add a photo as soon as they are uploaded from the camera. (It's not MY camera so I don't have much control over when it happens. =D) Here is a photo of the first few rows. You can see the fan pattern.
Tomorrow our group begins a new project. If you are interested, just let me know and I'll add you to our email group. It's a surprise project again but fairly simple so we add a few instructions every few days that take about 10 minutes to complete.
On another crochet note, my sis-in-law asked today if I could teach her how to crochet. Well, I've taught my mom so I think I can teach about anyone! My mom happened to call later in the day while we were working together on my sis-in-laws very first stitches. She asked what I was doing and I just said, "You must promise not to laugh." There was a pause, she said okay and then I told her I was teaching SIL to crochet. She laughed! Then she said, "Well, you taught me how so I think you can teach any one!" See! I wasn't being mean about my mom. LOL!
So the other crochet project is a baby blanket I was asked to make. I started it in November and then had put it down until last week. I picked it up and completed 10 rows when I realized something wasn't quite right. Of course it was all the way back at the beginning of row 2! I ripped it all out and basically started over. Did I mention I found the mistake at 11:30pm on Saturday night? So I worked on it until nearly 1am. I worked on it most of the day Sunday too.
I took a friend to a doctor appointment on Monday and worked on it while I waited for her. Just about 10 minutes before she was finished I realized there was another mistake somewhere. I was on row 17 at this point and the mistake was in row 11. This particular pattern just is not forgiving enough to move on so I ripped out to the problem and began again. By bed time I was caught up again.
At some point this week I was working on row 26 or 27 and realized there was yet another mistake. WHY I don't find them before I've worked more than a row is beyond me. I guess simply not paying attention. So, I ripped out another 3 rows and began again. Yesterday during the girls choir time I ripped out several more rows for mistakes. I am proud to say I am FINALLY up to row 42 today, leaving only 20 more rows to complete before adding fringe all the way around. It will be a beautiful baby blanket but I don't remember ever having so much trouble with such a simple pattern.
